The Goldfield Hotel was once considered to be one of the finest hotels between San Francisco and Chicago. It opened in 1907 but has been closed down since the late 1940s and is said to be one of the most haunted places in the country. Even if you don't believe in the paranormal, the hotel and surrounding buildings are all part of the Goldfield Historic District and are some of the best surviving structures from the gold boomtown era.

      If you go:
The hotel is closed to the public, but you can peek through the windows. The lobby still has the original seats and front desk. There are no gas stations in Goldfield, but there is a convenience store a short walk from the Goldfield Hotel. This is a great town to stretch your legs and take a walk into the past.
