The border crossing between Alaska and Canada on the Top of the World Highway is the western hemisphere's northernmost international border crossing. Located at a remote spot known as Little Gold Creek, there is just one building that serves both US and Canadian customs. Because the border passes right through the middle of the small building, it literally straddles two different time zones.

      If you go:
The highway, and therefore the border crossing, is only open in the summer months, from mid-May until mid-September. When the customs post closes, the highway closes as well. Customs formalities are the same as at any other border crossing, but this one is a lot less busy than most.
