The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is the largest solar power plant in the world. The plant consists of over 170,000 mirrors sprawled out on the ground which reflect sunlight up to the 450 foot boiler towers, known as "Power Towers" which then heat up and generate steam. The steam is pumped to a turbine which generates electricity.
If you go:
You can drive through the mirrors and get fairly close to the Power Towers via Colosseum Road. From the I-15 freeway, take exit 291 at Yates Wells Road and follow it towards the Primm Valley Golf Club, take the first left and then left again onto Colosseum Road and follow it into the mirrors. Do not try to cross any of the fences and do not go off the road.
