Fantasy Island is a 15 acre collection of mostly unpaved mountain bike trails. There is a paved trail for beginners. The routes offer plenty of Sonoran Desert scenery, including Saguaro cacti, mesquite trees, and a variety of other cactus species and desert plant life. Cattle are known to graze in the area, and are occasionally spotted by bikers. Hiking is also an option, just be mindful of fast-moving cyclists. You can make a day of it, or just stop for a few minutes to take in the scenery.
If you go:
Hours are sunup to sundown, parking is in a dirt lot on the side of Irvington Road. There are picnic tables and trash cans at the entrance, but no restrooms. The entrance to Saguaro National Park East is only a short drive away. There are a few bicycle rental shops nearby, such as Broadway Bicycles and Roadrunner Bicycles.
