• River Bend Overlook - Grassy Butte, North Dakota

      The Theodore Roosevelt National Park is comprised of three areas: north unit, Elkhorn Ranch and the south unit. This scenic drive follows the Little Missouri River in the north unit. Bison and Longhorn steer can found most days and there are stunning views of the river and the surrounding badlands. The dark skies provide ideal conditions for viewing stars and constellations. There is a campground and picnic area four miles from the entrance station.

      If you go:
      The national park is surrounded by the Little Missouri River National Grasslands and there are other historic attractions in the area, including the Fort Union Trading Post and the Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Sites.
