• Flagler College - St. Augustine, Florida

      Roadtrip Attraction
It's now a 4-year college, but Flagler, built by Florida developer Henry Flagler in 1887, was originally a luxury resort called the Hotel Ponce de Leon. The ornate Spanish Renaissance structure still contains the Tiffany glass, crystal chandeliers and other luxurious features that wealthy guests enjoyed. Public tours are offered for a nominal fee.

      If you go:
Don't miss the legendary ghostly face on the floor, allegedly a likeness of Flagler himself, and supposedly left when his ghostly presence visited his own funeral. Your guide may not include it on the tour but will point it out afterward if you ask.
