• Powderhorn Ski Resort - Mesa, Colorado

      Roadtrip Attraction
It's certainly not the largest ski resort in Colorado, but Powderhorn is considerably less expensive than its better known counterparts elsewhere in the state. It's also less crowded. And you'd be hard pressed to find a friendlier, more user-friendly skiing location anywhere, or a more spectacular view. It's a particularly good place for beginners to start gliding confidently, with suitable beginner slopes and very patient instructors. But there are also ample challenges for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. For additional thrills, there are a tubing hill and a new bag jump, which allows you to jump from a height of 34 feet and land on an inflated bag, just like a Hollywood stunt double. And recently, occasional night skiing sessions have been added to the mix at this resort that seems on a mission to keep expanding and improving the already memorable experience it offers.

      If you go:
Full day and half day lift tickets available, as well as a specially discounted EZ Rider ticket for beginners. Free parking. Full dining options and bar on the premises. During the summer, the resort becomes a hub of mountain biking and other activities, as well as a popular spot for weddings.
