      Roadtrip Attraction
Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery first stopped here on July 1, 1804, camping on the Isles des Parques (Park of Fields Island) on the opposite bank of the Missouri River. According to Clark's journals, they were - very much over powered with the heat - They camped here again on Sept 14, 1806 on the journey back east, an occasion that saw Clark in much higher spirits: "Our party received a dram (of whiskey) and Sung Songs until 11 o Clock at night in the greatest harmony."
