• Rock Cafe, Stroud, Oklahoma

      Roadtrip Attraction
The Rock Cafe (named for its local sandstone construction) opened in 1939 and has remained a Route 66 landmark ever since. In May 2008, the cafe suffered a devastating fire, destroying everything but the 4 rock walls and Betsy, the original stainless steel grill. Following a compete rebuild, the cafe reopened for business in 2009 - and Betsy continues to add to the more than 5 million burgers estimated to have been served here since Rock Cafe first opened.

Wonder why there are characters from the Pixar film Cars outside? That's because owner Dawn Welch provided the inspiration for 'Sally Carrera'. The Rock Cafe is open 7 days a week from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.
