• San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area - Sierra Vista, Arizona

      Extending for 40 miles from the international border to St. David, Arizona, the riparian area follows the course of the San Pedro River. Besides hosting a variety of animals and native birds, more than 250 species of migratory and wintering birds spend time here. Trails such as the loop trail at the midway point from the San Pedro House offer hiking. Important archaeological sites can be found plus opportunities for many types of recreation.

      If you go:
      Parking, interpretive kiosks and trailheads are located at Fairbank, Murry Springs, San Pedro House, Land Corral, Terrenate, Millville and Hereford Bridge. Parking and trailheads are also available at Hereford Road, Charleston Road, Palominas, Terrenate, Escapule and Lehner. The San Pedro House, which also offers books and gifts, is located at Highway 90 and the San Pedro River. Look at the website for special events like banding hummingbirds. Both the San Pedro House and the Fairbank Schoolhouse (along Hwy 82) are open daily from 9:30 to 4:30.
