• West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon - Sedona, Arizona

      Roadtrip Attraction
High, colorful canyon walls plus lush vegetation provide shade on this riparian hike up the West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon. There is a path for the first three miles. You'll do some rock hopping to cross the stream - a hiking stick can help with balance. Otherwise, the trail is fairly flat.

      If you go:
Nice all year round, though in winter there might be snow and in summer it could be closed if conditions are extremely dry. A concessionaire runs this area so there is a separate fee - Red Rock and federal passes are not accepted. Purchase a day or an annual pass. Drive south 17.5 miles south from Flagstaff or north 9.5 miles from Sedona to about halfway between milepost 385 and 384. The trailhead is on the west side of the highway down a paved lane that leads behind a few creekside houses. Park at the day-use area. GPS: N34° 59' 25.3314, W111° 44' 14.244
