• Marjorie Kennan Rawlings Historic State Park - Cross Creek, Florida

      Roadtrip Attraction
The park consists of the home, outbuildings and farmland where the Pulitzer Price winning ("The Yearling - 1939") author lived and worked. The park gives visitors a glimpse into the life of the author, and life in rural Florida during that time. You will likely be greeted by one of the chickens or ducks that roam the property. The park is closed August and September for cleaning and other times of the year guided tours inside the home are limited to Thursday through Sunday.

      If you go:
A stones throw down the road is the award winning Yearling Restaurant, open Thursday through Sunday, featuring Willie Green singing the blues. If you dare, you might want to try the frog legs or alligator.
